Town Halls &
Office Hours

Four standing ways to ask questions, raise problems, and talk with Karim — in public or in private, online or in person.

Virtual Town Hall

Every Monday · 6:30–7:30 PM

Streamed live on YouTube. Karim covers what the council is working on, then takes questions from the chat and from questions sent in during the week. Every session is captioned, recorded, and archived on this page.

The first session will be announced here and on the calendar.

In-Person Town Hall

Monthly · location rotates across the city

A public town hall in a different part of Hillsboro each month — libraries, community rooms, neighborhood spaces. Each month's location is posted here and on the calendar. Sessions are recorded for the archive with the camera on Karim, never on the room.

Virtual Office Hours

Weekly · time rotates: mornings, lunches, evenings, weekends

A drop-in video room, one conversation at a time. Not streamed and not recorded — this is where questions about your personal situation belong. The rotation is posted a month ahead so every work schedule gets a turn.

Office Hours at the Library

Drop-in · Brookwood & Shute Park

Sit-down, face-to-face time. Find Karim at a table or in a meeting room and bring whatever is on your mind. Times are posted here and on the calendar.

Calendar

Every town hall and office hour lands on a public calendar you can subscribe to from your own phone. The calendar link will be posted here before the first session.

Ground Rules

The same rules, applied the same way, to supporters and critics alike.

  1. This is a personal town hall, not an official city meeting. Nothing said here enters the official record. To testify for the record, speak at a council meeting or write to the city recorder.
  2. Disagreement is welcome. Slurs, harassment, and threats get removed.
  3. Don't post anyone's personal information — addresses, phone numbers, employers — including your own.
  4. When a specific land-use application is headed to council, Karim sits as an impartial judge and can't discuss it here. He will say so, and point you to how and when to testify.
  5. Matters from executive session — litigation strategy, negotiations, personnel — are confidential by law. Karim will tell you what's on the public record instead.
  6. Personal help with a city problem — a bill, a permit, a pothole — gets routed to the right city channel. Details stay out of public chat, for your own privacy. See Get Help.
  7. One question at a time. An unanswered question isn't agreement or disagreement — ask again next week, or send it in ahead of time.
  8. The chat and the room are moderated by these rules and nothing else.

You don't have to be on camera

Recordings point at Karim, not the audience. Ask anonymously with a written card at in-person sessions, by name in the chat, or on the mic by choice. If your question involves your personal situation, bring it to office hours — nothing there is recorded, and you shouldn't have to air your business to a room.

Session Archive

Every town hall — virtual and in person — is archived here with captions, so missing the live session never means missing the answer. The first recordings land after the first session.

A personal event

These sessions are hosted by Karim Delgado in his individual capacity. They are not official meetings, hearings, or communications of the City of Hillsboro or the Hillsboro City Council, no official public-comment record is created here, and no city staff, equipment, funds, or other city resources are used to produce them. Views expressed are Karim's alone and not positions of the City. To put a comment on the official record or get help from city services, visit hillsboro-oregon.gov.

Join the Work

This work runs on people, not corporate PAC checks. Show up to a town hall, bring a neighbor, chip in what you can. That is how Hillsboro wins.
