Get Help

The fastest route to fixing a city problem usually isn't a councilor — it's the city team whose job it is. Start here.

Emergency

Call 911. For police or fire non-emergencies, 24-hour dispatch is 503-629-0111.

City services

Water billing, permits, code enforcement, streets, streetlights, parks, garbage and recycling questions — every department is reachable through the Civic Center switchboard, 503-681-6100, or hillsboro-oregon.gov/our-city/contact-us.

Food, rent, shelter, utilities

Dial 211 or visit 211info.org — Oregon's directory for rent assistance, food, shelter, utility help, child care, and health care.

Put it on the official record

Comments made to Karim personally don't enter the city's record. To testify officially, speak during public comment at a council meeting or write to the city recorder — details at hillsboro-oregon.gov.

Talk to Karim

Bring it to office hours or a town hall — that's what they're for. Once sworn in, Karim's official council contact will be listed here as well.

What Karim can and can't do

  1. He can point you to the right department, follow up when something stalls, and work to change the policy when the problem is the rule itself.
  2. He can't decide individual cases — permits, bills, citations. Those run through processes councilors don't control, on purpose, so that decisions are made by rule instead of by connections.
  3. He also can't discuss pending land-use applications outside the public hearing, or share anything from executive session — the law requires both.

A privacy note

Don't send personal details — account numbers, case numbers, immigration status — through this website or a public chat. Bring sensitive matters to office hours or directly to the right city office.

Join the Work

This work runs on people, not corporate PAC checks. Show up to a town hall, bring a neighbor, chip in what you can. That is how Hillsboro wins.
